Antarctica

1. Antarctica is a vast, ice-covered landmass that is the fifth largest of the earth's continents, covering around 5.5 million square miles. The land is separated into two parts by the Transantarctic Mountains: East Antarctica and West Antarctica. The former is much larger than the latter, and the East consists mainly of an ice-covered plateau, whereas West Antarctica contains an archipelago of mountainous islands connected by ice.

3. Technically Antarctica would be a desert, because, according to the definition I found, a desert is "a region so arid because of little rainfall that it supports only sparse and widely spaced vegetation or no vegetation at all. Arid? Check. Little rainfall? Check. Little or no vegetation? Check. So, by this interpretation, Antarctica is indeed a desert.
4. On average, Antarctica gets less than two inches of precipitation a year, mostly in the form of snow.
